Reco – Afrox Link Benefits Refrigeration Market

Afrox’s acquisition of the business of the country’s leading refrigeration equipment supplier. Reco-will benefit customers in the form of improved service, distribution and product choice.Reco sales director Fred Penhall says the changes, which, among others, have seen Reco sell its refrigerant decanting plant and switch to Afrox as a supplier, were welcome developments for the Crown Mines-based distributor.  “These are exciting times for us. We are linked to the largest gas company in South Africa – giving us access to international best practice and logistics - yet have maintained our entrepreneurial spirit and approach, which combined will enable us to compete more effectively,” Penhall says.

Operating as a separate division of Afrox, Reco will continue to serve its existing customer base, while having access to a nationwide distribution network and state-of-the-art filling facilities.

“Through the Afrox link we have access to the largest cylinder stocks in the country, as well as a huge fleet of delivery vehicles, which will provide excellent logistical support for our network of 14 branches.”

Reco will continue to market DuPont products, and this relationship, combined with the Afrox link, will give its existing and new customers access to the widest range of refrigerants for current and future technologies. 

The Reco business is channeled through four strategic business units focused on specific market segments.

The Coolmart division will manage over-the-counter sales of components and consumables and the Friga Systems business unit is responsible for the engineering and manufacturing of packaged condensing units and multiplex racks for retail and commercial refrigeration applications.

Exports will be managed through the Export Sales business unit and the fourth unit, OEM Sales, will focus on the specialised supply and support requirements of the automotive and white goods industries.

Penhall says that these strategies have positioned Reco to focus its efforts on its diverse customer base which requires ongoing product innovation, quality and service support.

“The Afrox refrigerants we supply are produced in ISO9001:2000 accredited facilities, are of the highest purity and are tested and certified at our in-house laboratory. Our imported product will continue to be sourced from the world’s leading suppliers, assuring our customers of the highest quality.
